An Open Letter to Venues That Exploit Their Musicians

Isn’t it great to have a venue that you trust to always have great music, and a good crowd? Sadly, as the music industry changes and “everyone” can be a musician, the quality and expectations go down. I truly believe that bringing out people because you’re great is key, but also having people just come to the trusted venue who aren’t familiar with your band is even better, because if they love your music, they’ll come again. I’m happy to say there are some quality venues that care, and always have good music popping up in Toronto (Burdock being one close by) and I hope to see more of this. Would love to hear your thoughts, as a music goer and performer, and venue operator.
